Profile of the Department:

The Department of English of Swami Yogananda Giri College, Sakti Ashram was established in the very beginning of the college which was in 18^th June, 1994. The department got the affiliation from Gauhati University in the year 1998 and in 2005 it got the government concurrence. In 2006 the department has started Major course and since then it has produced number of graduates in English with Major and General Course. The department is doing a Certificate Course on Spoken English from the academic session 2017-2018. The Department exchange Faculty and Students with nearby College. The aim of the Department is to impart quality education and to encourage the Students of the area to pursue higher Education. The Department has done some extension activates in nearby Schools so that the Students of the School can be benefited from it.

The Department of English offers B.A. Honours and Regular Course under CBCS (Course Based Credit System) of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar comprising of six Semesters.
