From the Desk of the Principal

Swami Yogananda Giri College was established on 18th June in the year 1994. The college had been named in the holy memory of Late Ramami Mohan Singha the founder of Saktiashram. Among the eminent personalities that took part in establishing this holy institution mentioned may be of Late Jitendra Nath Roy, Ex. Principal, Saktiashram Higher Secondary and Vocational School, Late Jamini Kr. Baruah, Asstt. Teacher, Saktiashram H. S. and Vocational School and famous litterateur, Shri Krishna Mohan Adhikary, former Vice Principal, Saktiashram H. S. and Vocational School and Shri P. N. Talukdar, founder Principal of the College along with recently retired Principal Dr. Paresh Ch. Roy, MA (Double), M Phil, PhD, D. Litt and Shri Monaranjan Roy, G. B. Member of the College respectively. The college has strong foundation under the stewardship and bold initiative of Sjt. Birendra Roy, the founder chairman of the college. The Swami Yogananda Giri College was affiliated to Gauhati University permanently in the year 2008-09. Besides, the college was recognized under 2(F) and 12(B) of UGC Act 1956.

The college has 15 bighas of land covering classroom, administrative rooms, teachers’ common room, girls’ common room, library, auditorium, indoor stadium, women hostel, canteen and a playground. There are so many shortages to cater all the facilities to the students and faculties due to resource constraints. But it has been trying its best to meet the needs of the students in spite of limited resources.
