Profile of the Department:

The Department of History of Swami Yogananda Giri College, Saktiashram was established from the very beginning of the establishment of the college which was established in the Month of June, 1994. With a view to foster and rapid development of the knowledge of History among the aspirant students of the Western part of Kokrajhar district in general and Saktiashram area in particular the department had been established in the institution. Further, the department has another vision of conducting research based activities. In the year 1998, the Department got affiliation from Gauhati University and concurrence from Government of Assam in the year 2005. Again, it got permanent affiliation from Gauhati University in the year 2009. Soon after establishment of the Department it offered only General Course in the undergraduate programme.

Programme/Courses Offered:

At present the department offers B. A. Regular Course in History under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar comprising of six semesters.

Faculty Position of the Department:

There are only two (02) Faculty members in the Department of History.

Departmental Library:

Apart from the main Library of Swami Yogananda Giri College, the Department of History also has a mini library with only 100 collections of books.
